The aftermath of the junk food causes Crohn's comment
Hello my beautiful IBD Warrior's and Happy Friday. It has now been a couple of day's since the junk food causes Crohn's comment was made and it's safe to stay many suffers are still very upset, myself included because it now looks to those non suffers that we mad ourselves sick.
As we all know BBC Newsbeat was the one who originally published the comment but then other newspaper's such as the The Telegraph, The Independent and The Daily Mail also decided to publish the story too.
For many years now suffers and charities have been trying to raise awareness about IBD and how serious an illness it is because a lot of people think
And now thanks to a comment made by gastroenterologist I feel that a lot of hard work and years of campaigning has been undone.
I know that a few people have been saying that her words have been manipulated but we all know that newspapers and magazines like to word things their way so why mention anything at all about food especially when there is no proof that diet causes Inflammatory Bowel Disease and also if junk food really is the cause then why did Charles Darwin (1809 -1882) and Prince Albert (1819 -1861) both have Crohn's because there most certainly was no McDonalds in that era.
On Wednesday night Professor Chris Probert a gastroenterologist at Liverpool University and clinical adviser to Crohn's and Colitis UK went on BBC news 24 to respond to the media reports that junk food causes Crohn's.
And today Dr Mitton finally spoke to Crohn's and Colitis UK regarding her interview with the BBC.
As far as I am concerned this apology has come far to late if she really cared about helping people with IBD she would have issued this statement on the day that this all happened and unfortunately a lot of people will not see statement either because it is very unlikely that the BBC and newspapers will publish it.
That is it for today's post remember to....

“If you have a lot of junk food before your diagnosis it actually makes it more likely that you will develop Crohn's disease."
For many years now suffers and charities have been trying to raise awareness about IBD and how serious an illness it is because a lot of people think
- it is just a simple illness that causes diarrhea and once you take some medication it goes away
- You just need to change diet and you will be cured
- If you stress less it will go away
And now thanks to a comment made by gastroenterologist I feel that a lot of hard work and years of campaigning has been undone.
