Health Update: November & December 2013
Hi everyone, how are we all doing today? For today's post I thought I would do a health update because I haven't done one since August and a lot of things happened in November and December.
November
So I saw my surgeon
this month to discuss what she was going to do with the open wound and fistula. She
decided that she was going to do what she normally does with my open wound and
that is to take away the over granulation tissue which is causing it not to heal.
When she is cleaning up my wound she thought that it would be a good idea to see if she could find the fistula because nobody has actually seen what it looks like apart from on an MRI scan. I should hopefully be going into the surgical day case ward at the beginning of February to have this all done but the waiting lists are very long at the moment.
December
So on the 18th I got done oesophageal
dilation so that means I got Christmas dinner this year, woohoo. It
was a close shave though and I nearly didn’t get it done because they had an
emergency but for once luck was on my side. So they manage to dilate my oesophagus
to 20mm this time so I can manage to eat most things, also it wasn’t that
painful this time round so I only had to have a couple of doses of paracetmol and one
dose of tramadol. The day after (the 19th) I spoke to the
doctor and they have decided that they are going to give me humria injections.
The IBD nurse came round in the afternoon and discussed what was going to
happen and gave me a test pen to practice with, so on the 7th
January I will be getting my first dose or should I say 4 doses as the first injection
has to be a loading dose.
That is it for this health update post, I hope you all have a lovely weekend and until my next post....

After Remicade stopped working for me, they put me on Imuran - which seemed to do the trick for a while. then I had a major flare in 2007. That's when they put me on HUMIRA, but I only had a couple doses because they couldn't get it under control and they found Lymphoma in my colon. So they had to deal with that first. I'm telling my story on my blog in more detail, but I hope you have good luck with Humira!!
