#GetYourBellyOut
Hello my beautiful IBD Warrior's how are you all keeping? Today I wanted to do a blog post telling you about the wonderful #GetYourBellyOut campaign which was set up to raise awareness about IBD and also raise money for the charity Crohn's and Colitis UK.
Last Sunday evening (March 30th) when I was on twitter I noticed fellow IBD suffer's posting photographs with the hash tag #GetYourBellyOut. I was extremely intrigued by the hash tag and decided to click on it and when I did I loved what I saw, all these fellow IBD suffers showing there belly's!
The #GetYourBellyOut campaign is being run by four lovely ladies, Sahara (@Sahara88uk), Victoria (@colitisandme), Lorna (@lornamary_1981) and Gem (@wales28). The inspiration for this campaign came from the no makeup selfie cancer awareness campaign that swept the country a few weeks. Unlike the "#nomakeupselfie" which I honestly didn't understand (because how is a #nomakeupselfie is relevant to cancer), this campaign is totally relevant to Crohn's and and Colitis because of course what area does it effect? the bowel and where is the bowel located? in the stomach.
As far as I am concerned this is the best campaign I have ever seen and if you would like to join in take a picture of your belly (only if you feel comfortable) and share it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. When you post your photographs on these social media sites don't forget to use the hash tag #GetYourBellyOut and #IBDAwareness.
To make a donation to campaign (all donation's will go to Crohn's and Colitis UK) you can
I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Sahara, Victoria, Lorna and Gem for all the hard work they are doing. You can follow all four women on twitter.
